More ways into a complex subject
Mad installed QuickSilver® and Alice® exhibit media for the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) at Vista Del Lago near Pyramid Lake. The exhibition introduces technologies used for snow measurement and prediction, aquifer monitoring, irrigation, aquatic ecosystem management and flood mapping. LiDAR is one of the subjects visitors encounter.
Projected panels and an interactive touchscreen form the physical installation. Guests can register age and language preferences through a QR code or NFC tag, then use exhibit codes to reach personalized text and narration drawn from DWR-provided material. The result gives visitors a choice of language and an appropriate level of detail as they explore the tools used to understand and manage water resources.
